How to become a better version of yourself
When I was a little boy growing up, and not so long ago, I always thought adults had all the answers. That adults didn’t worry. Like, once you became an adult (whatever that meant to me at the time) everything was all good!
The things I worried about, and the challenges I faced would just evaporate and everything would be okay.
It wasn’t until my 26th birthday when I sat back and reflected on this thought. And I realized that we’re all just children with more responsibility and hopefully more self-knowledge.
But, unfortunately, more fear too.
What I realized is that the inner voice we all have – will always be there. It doesn’t just go away. As the saying goes, “Wherever you go, there you are.”
And it’s made me realize that we all have this fundamental hope that there’s a “better me” who’ll one day emerge.
But what I now know – and am absolutely certain of – is that we can’t just jump over ourselves as if we weren’t there.
We must realize that time doesn’t change anything. Only we can change things. And that the only way to change who we are tomorrow is to do things differently today.
(Even if it’s a teeny, tiny bit differently.)
