How to tell if you’re really hungry aka “I’m always hungry!”

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

Let’s get tactical, tactical, I wanna get tactical, let’s get into tactical…

Today, as you might have guessed, I want to get tactical.

Many of you tell me that you always feel hungry. I hear ya!

Let’s explore:

First off, let’s ask ourselves this question while we’re thinking rationally: Is it possible to be hungry all the time?

Rationally, we know that it’s not possible to be hungry all the time. So what gives?

Well, most of the time it’s emotional hunger.

Real/physical hunger comes on gradually. Emotional hunger comes on suddenly. Real hunger can be satisfied with any food. Yes, that’s right – if an apple doesn’t satisfy our hunger, we’re not really physically hungry.

Emotional hunger comes with a craving for a specific food. And unfortunately, it’s usually not apples.

When we get ‘hungry’ it’s worth looking at the clock and asking ourselves a few questions:

1. How long has it been since I’ve eaten?

2. What was the last thing I ate?

3. Was it something nutritious?

If you suspect your hunger might be emotional, ask yourself what you might be really hungry for?

Perhaps, it’s affection, assistance, rest, excitement, peace of mind…

Is it possible to have the need met by someone? How about by yourself?

Here’s the challenge: Many times we feel like our needs can’t or won’t get met so food becomes our escape.

When we’re ‘hungry’ that is one need we feel like we can control.

Sometimes, it can be very helpful to explore what it feels like to have the need go unmet by simply writing about it, and many clients have reported that this eases the discomfort tremendously.

This is also how to find out what you might really want out of your life because typically we’d shovel food into our mouth so we don’t have to experience or face the feelings.

But when we’re not suppressing those feelings, they’ll come to the surface, and we’ll be able to see what it is we really want.

Food is ONLY love when it is used to feed our true physical hunger and we actually enjoy and relish and savor the experience. Otherwise, we’re using food to cover up feelings.

Feelings that are preventing us from becoming the person we really want to be.

Are you ready to stop hoping and wishing? Are you ready to finally stay consistent and get the body you’ve always wanted? What exactly are you waiting for? Let’s get started today!

A weird reason why you might actually be eating junk

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

“Do I want this?” “No, I don’t want this!” “Do I want this?” “No, I don’t!” “How many calories is it?” You don’t want this!” “I really want it though!”

This internal chatter can be extremely taxing.

It’s a pure battle between our long term, rational mind versus our short term, irrational mind.

It’s Dr. Jekyll versus Mr. Hyde.

It’s our Body Tutor versus the devil on our shoulder.

Whatever you want to call it —> it’s extremely taxing. This internal debate can drive us crazy.

And here’s the weird reason why you might actually be eating junk food –> because you’re so sick of ‘listening’ to it! And we know that if we give in, and just eat whatever it is we’re obsessing over, we won’t have to listen to this internal debate anymore.

What I’m saying is that you might not even REALLY want the junk you’re eating. What you might want is peace and quiet.

Laurie, a client, writes this to me: (Pardon her french)

“I made the decision to eat like shit today. Because I’ve been thinking about it for a few days and I just don’t want to think about it anymore. It’s like what you were saying about the candy. I just ate to shut-up my food desires.”

Don’t you find this fascinating?

Because what we’re really after isn’t necessarily the food. And food, as much as we like to think it might, will never give us what we’re truly after.

So what can we do about this?

Question: if you were watching TV with a little kid and suddenly something very graphic appeared what would you do?

Well, I think, you’d change the channel as fast as you possibly could, right?

As soon as we find ourselves starting to negotiate with ourselves we have a chance to turn it off. We have a chance to change that channel. We can choose to focus on something else. And that’s the key. Because in this moment, we’re focusing our attention only on the temptation in front of us.

What would happen if your favorite person walked in the door?

You’d very quickly forget about the temptation, and the internal chatter would never start.

What would happen if going forward, instead of only focusing on yourself in that moment, you focused on other things?

Thinking about this BEFORE we’re in the moment, is what makes this possible because after all, the moment is the moment. It’s hard to control what we do in the moment. But, if God forbid there’s an emergency we all know how to call 911 – even though we may never have in the moment, right?

How to practice: Right now whatever you’re thinking about, change that channel and think about this: Why are manhole covers round?

Right now, you’re (hopefully) thinking fairly rational and you were able to change your focus to the question I just asked.

Next time you feel yourself starting to negotiate with yourself why can’t you quickly think about something else?

When we know what’s going on, while it’s going on, it’s much, much easier to change what goes on.

P.S Bonus Prize: First person to email me –> adam at mybodytutor dot com with the subject line ‘Bonus prize: Manhole question’ — with the correct answer to my question will get a prize. I’ll announce the winner in my next inspiration. Oh and don’t Google the answer because I will know if you did! :)

Facing the feelings that we’re feeling scared to face

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

If we can learn to master our emotions then we’ll be less inclined to eat junk.

If we can figure out ways to make ourselves happier, we’ll be setting ourselves up for success.

All we ever hear as a kid is “stop crying,” or “relax,” or “calm down,” or “everything will be alright!” when we’re upset. But no one has ever really told us how to deal with complex emotions.

When our mind floods with emotions we might feel panicky or upset or anxious or angry. How about feelings like rage, loneliness, abandonment, shame? These feelings can be horrifying!

The challenge with feelings and thoughts is that we can’t control them. There are a lot of books that suggest that we ‘let go of our ego’ so we can stop thinking.

That is very, very difficult to do.

The reality is I can’t control my thoughts. They just pop into my head. As do my feelings.

Howeva! I can, you can, we all can!, control how we react to our thoughts and our feelings, if we choose to.

Let’s say we’re all going to a gorgeous island together. How would we prepare?

Ah, there’s the key. We’d all prepare, right?

And that’s all we can do in our case. We can prepare ourselves for when we’re sad, anxious, unhappy, etc. What if we had a secret stash of things to do, or look at, or read or listen to, or people to call when certain feelings arise?

The idea here is to figure out ways to deal with our emotions – besides, using food.

Is this possible? Of course it is!

Why? Because the monster is never as scary as it seems.

Like clouds, and weather, and so many other things in our lives, feelings and emotions pass. We must remember this.

But we must prepare ourselves.

It’s my birthday, and I want to celebrate with you! (Limited time promo ends on Tuesday 2/15/11 at midnight)

NevBeforeandAfter

“That went really well!” I said to myself after getting off the phone with one of the greatest entrepreneurs of our generation.

1 week before the call, I got an email directly from him. He said that one of his friends is a client of MBT (I had no idea they were friends) and that he was very intrigued by my business. I couldn’t believe my eyes; I read the email about 5X!

We talked about all sorts of topics ranging from psychology to happiness to entrepreneurship to fitness. I kept trying to talk about his business and he kept bringing the conversation back to mine.

After I told him my story of why I started MBT, he was amazed at how I’ve been living what I teach since 4th grade.

“Your story is so unique! I don’t know anyone who started working out in 4th grade. And the fact that you’ve been able to live the lifestyle you teach for all of these years proves just how sustainable it is. You are the definition of consistency! If I were you, I’d tell everyone your story.”

MBT is what I believe to be my life’s work.

Since opening our doors in 2007, we’ve helped 100’s and 100’s of people throughout the US and world get the body they want with our proven methods and system, and because it’s my birthday, I’d like to share my program with you.

Why?

Because helping you get from where you are right now to where you want to be is thrilling for me.

If I’m able to help my client, Nev, (case study coming soon) look like this (see above before and after) or my client Stephanie lose 87 + pounds – why won’t it work for you?

stephanie-ba

Why wouldn’t someone try a program that has been proven over and over again to work with a risk free proposition? This question truly fascinates me and is what marketing is all about.

Any business in the world has the challenge of trying to get people to try their product/service.

That’s why being featured in major national media helps. That’s why having case studies helps. That’s why having countless testimonials helps.

It helps because it builds credibility. But of course, that’s not everything.

People (you!) want results!

I know my program works better than anything else out there, and I back it up with a 100% guarantee since I’m that confident about it.

I spent tens of thousands of dollars, and over a year developing MBT, testing it, and improving it. And I’m constantly refining our methods.

If you are in great shape, it’s because you’re staying consistent with your diet and exercise. This is as unadulterated as 2 + 2 = 4.

And I know that if you aren’t in great shape it’s because you aren’t staying consistent with either your diet and/or exercise. Our body never lies.

However, we constantly lie to ourselves. “I’ll start next Monday!” “Eh, I’ll just go tomorrow.” The excuses and lies we tell ourselves are endless. And before we know it, next Monday becomes next month and before you know it – summer is here.

It happens over and over again.

We delude ourselves. If you’re not changing your actions, how can you expect your outcomes to change?

And no – it’s not about more tactics or another fancy exercise contraption or video. A lack of knowledge isn’t the problem. If anything there’s too much information out there!

The real problem is a lack of consistent action. But if consistency were so easy, we’d all do it.

Accountability matters. Support and guidance matters. Setting expectations matters. And most importantly, having a proven program and system and methods matters.

You know when you have a friend who’s complaining about something – maybe her boyfriend -and you know exactly what she should do!?!

The only thing is, it doesn’t matter if you tell them or not. They won’t listen until they’re ready.

That’s how I feel with MBT. You’ve been reading my stuff. You know me. And I KNOW 100% that my program will help you get the body you’ve always wanted.

Just yesterday, Deborah writes to me, “Your system is the most effective and efficient way I have ever seen to get fit and healthy.”

I get emails exactly like this all the time.

So…what’s stopping you?

Skeptics always have an excuse because it’s easier to be skeptical than to take the risk of trying something and possibly failing. (Here’s where I’ll point out that there is no risk because I offer a 100% money back guarantee) Skeptics say they don’t have enough time (when everyone has the same 24 hours per day).

They’ll complain about having “already tried everything.” They’ll blame it on their lack of finances only to find out they spend $100’s a month on food and entertainment.

Is $38 per week really going to hold you back from getting the body you really want?

There are a 1001 excuses to not take action. And that’s what it comes down to. If you’re not ready to take action, you’ll question anything and everything.

You’ll question the program. You’ll question the results. You’ll question the guarantee. You’ll question anything and everything until you can find something to latch onto to so you feel comfortable not taking action.

Why?

Because change is scary! I understand, believe me.

But as I always say, “the monster is never as scary as it seems.”

If I’ve been able to help all of these people and all of these people – - I’m certain I can help you.

Okay – enough!

Because it’s my birthday, and because I really want to give you the push to try MBT, I’d like to offer you $75 off if you take action and sign up by Tuesday, February 15th.

If you’re interested in taking me up on this rare opportunity (I hardly ever offer discounts) simply email me at adam at mybodytutor dot com with ‘Birthday Promotion’ in the subject line and we’ll get you going!

Here’s my final question to you: If you’re truly honest with yourself, and base your future results on your past performance, where will you be 6 months from today?
