This weird tasting spice always leads to success

Monday, October 10th, 2011

People always ask me what my favorite spice is so I figured I’d share it with you right here, right now.

But I’m not going to just tell it to you because that would be booooring.

Getting the body we want is about 3 things: Eating right. Exercising. And doing those two things consistently.

Unfortunately, it’s the consistency part that’s so hard.

Besides the usual culprits like rationalizing, procrastinating and justifying – consistency is even harder because it can get so booooring.

Variety is the spice of life, right?

Not in our case.

In our case, consistency is the spice of life! :)

And because consistency can get boring we tend to bounce from one fad diet to the next, always in search of the newest fad diet, instead of focusing on what actually works.

We all know deep down, the secret to success is —> doing the right things over and over and over and over again. And doing the right things over and over and over and over again. And doing the right things over and over and over again.

No matter what diet we follow, or what ‘magic pill’ we take (they don’t exist!), if we want to be successful, eventually, we’re going to have to do the actual work.

And the actual work means eating right, eating less, and moving more…consistently.

There is no escaping this! I repeat: We can’t escape the work if we want results.

While the majority of people are searching for the “latest and greatest fad diet” we’re doing the right things day in and day out. While the majority of people are searching for the “new and shiny diet” we’re losing weight week after week.

Once in a blue moon, a client will ask me if I get bored of what I do. “Don’t you get bored of replying to my Daily Feedbacks every day?”

It’s an honest question.

The answer is absolutely not! Because I know each Daily Feedback will lead us one step closer to where we want to be. Each Daily Feedback is a critical part of this journey. Every meal counts. Every workout counts.

And what really drives me, and what I really love, is the thrill I get when you email me and say “Damn! This is working!” “My pants feel so loose!” “I hate you because I have to buy new clothes!”

That’s what gets me out of bed every morning. That’s what keeps me up at night.

THIS is what I live for!

Because I know we can’t escape the discomfort we have to endure, we just can’t. (Here’s what I mean: change by nature is uncomfortable. And if we’re doing the same things we used to do, we’re not changing and therefore we won’t feel any discomfort. In other words, discomfort IS our compass. Discomfort means we’re doing things DIFFERENTLY, and therefore getting closer to where we want to be.) Nor can we escape the day to day consistency we have to stick to, which isn’t sexy whatsoever – even though, it’s ridiculously effective!

And because it’s so easy to avoid the inevitable – being consistent and sticking with a sensible eating and exercise plan – I know (in fact, I’m 1000% convinced – though I’m admittedly biased) daily and personal accountability and support is what makes ALL of the difference.

No one said it’s easy. Nor sexy. But ask anyone who’s pursued anything worth doing —> (usually, things that are hard to obtain or else it wouldn’t be worth all that much nor would it be inspiring) — and they’re certainly convinced it’s worth it.

So let’s embrace the consistency for the rest of today and this week.

And when it feels a little boring, that’s our time to lean in even more and make more change happen. Because like our moods, we have ups and downs. And when we’re up, it feels easy.

But when it’s easy, we quickly forget about the inevitable downs that 9.9 times out of 10 knock us off our tracks for good.

And that’s when most people go back to their old ways and then start something else and repeat the cycle over and over again.

But not on my watch. Oh no. Not on my watch.

The one question a famous couple’s counselor asked that made her track record flawless

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

In this journey of life, there aren’t many cut and dry markers like start and finish lines. However, there are a ton of marathons we choose to enter (whether we realize it or not).

For the sake of consistency, let’s define a marathon in life as a process.

And the reason why getting the body we want is so hard in 6 words is because: It’s a process. Not an event.

Dating is a process. Building a company is a process. Establishing trust is a process. And getting the body we want is a process.

Events, on the other hand, are easier to manage, pay for and get excited about.

Processes, though, build results for the long haul.

Hopefully, whatever marathons we choose to pursue are worthwhile ones. And when we focus on the benefits, it’s easier to get through the inevitable discomfort we’ll face. (In my experience, having support and accountability makes the biggest difference of all.)

But here’s the critical mistake so many people make: If you’re going to decide to start a marathon, decide up front that you will not quit when the going gets tough.

No matter what it takes, fight like heck to back that commitment up. (We’ll talk more about this commitment later in the week.)

The one question that allowed a famous couple’s counselor to have a flawless track record

The one question that set her apart and made her very successful was this:

At the very beginning, before the first session, she’d ask her clients: ‘Are you considering divorce?’

If the answer was yes, she refused to take them on.

Why? Because there really aren’t degrees of commitment. As soon as we consider giving up on anything, we are looking for reasons to support that decision.

If we, instead, commit to a project, or mission, or marriage, then we look for reasons to stick with it.

And when it comes to our health and fitness the reasons to stick with it are literally endlesssssssssssssssssssssssss.

P.S. As a product of divorced parents, I am in no way, shape or form advocating that parents should stick to their marriage, if it’s not working. I think the best thing parents can do for their children is be happy themselves (whether it’s together or not).

P.P.S. Relentless support and accountability is the key to achieving goals. My program has helped 100’s and 100’s of people get the body they want because of that. Without it, it’s just too easy to make excuses and rationalize our poor choices which means you won’t follow through, yet again.

Although I know my program works (that’s why I offer a 100% money back guarantee), I want you to feel perfectly comfortable before you join. SO, if you have any questions/concerns whatsoever – please feel free to reach out to me. I read every email I get, and you can expect a lighting quick response. Try me!

Is the fear of losing hope holding you back?

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

Are you scared of losing hope?

Hear me out.

I know talking politics can be very dangerous but I’m going to take a risk here. Call me a crazy #%#%#$%^$^ risk taker, if you’d like.

I will preface this with: All politics aside…I think…

…President Obama won the election because his platform was based on hope. People wanted a change, and his story was perfectly crafted for those who did.

And people had hope that he was the right man to lead the change.

People needed hope.

Hope is everything.

Hope keeps us alive. It gets us through tough times. It gets us out of bed. It gives us things to look forward to. It keeps us sane. Hope is fun. Hope is filled with potential.

Hope is so powerful.

Here’s a question for you: have you ever feared that you’d lose hope?

Let me ‘xplain.

If we try our hardest, and work our smartest and failed at something, we’d probably be pretty bummed, right?

Let’s take high school, for example.

How many times did you try your hardest? Putting forth 100% effort in order to achieve a high grade?

If so, how many times did you fail? Did you not achieve a high grade?

I can’t imagine it being many times, if at all.

But sometimes we fear that if we put forth 100% effort and don’t succeed…then we’re really losers! Then we really can’t accomplish anything.

Then we’ll really lose hope.

And without hope what is there?

It’s way easier to think, “Yeah, I can do that if only I do xyz…”

It’s nice to keep that in our back pocket so to speak. It’s nice to believe that IF we turn up the effort dial, anything is obtainable. “But for now, I’m content. There’s no reason to turn up the effort dial. But I know I could do xyz, IF I really tried.”

Here’s my challenge to you:

If something is holding you back from becoming the person you want to be, or, from having the body you really want, or, from having the confidence you really want, or, from having the energy you really want…

Ask yourself WHY.

Are you scared of losing hope?

Are you scared of failing?

If we put forth 100% effort into whatever it is we really want, failure is not an option. It won’t happen.

It CAN’T happen.

It’s just that our short term, irrational mind is relentless. It won’t let up. Every time you find yourself focusing on the fear of failure or the discomfort try to focus on the possibilities instead.

“Hell would be seeing what you could have accomplished if only you tried your hardest.”

**
And because our short term, irrational mind is so relentless, it makes change without any support, accountability, or inspiration VERY hard to create. We wind up taking 2 steps forward and 3 steps back. If you’re ready to finally end this cycle consider joining the 100% money back guaranteed program and system that has helped 100’s and 100’s get the body they want.

Summer is coming. Will you be ready?

How America was able to find Bin Laden after 10 years

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

All politics aside, America was able to find Bin Laden because of one word:

Persistence.

What is persistence anyway?

Persistence isn’t (necessarily) about using the same tactics over and over.

It’s about having the same goal over and over.

The challenge with weight loss is that it’s never about a hammer hitting plate glass.

It’s always about the accrued power of thousands of meals, meals that accrue, morsel by morsel until our body is ready to change, starting a downward trend.

The first few pounds are very exciting, of course. Everyone lines up to cheer. (Our friends, loved ones, coworkers, etc.)

The pounds after that, though, can often be lonely.

Everyone has long left the building or the cheering section and moved on to celebrate some other first few pounds.

And so the pounds after the first few pounds, oftentimes get questioned by ourselves the most.

“Am I still working on this?” “Do I really want to lose the weight?” “Is this that important to me?” “Is this really worth it?”

These thoughts are coming straight from our short term, irrational mind.

Remember: in the battle between our short term, irrational mind vs. our long term, rational mind the job of the irrational mind is to reduce the amount of discomfort we face as much as possible.

Let’s talk about getting what we want out of life for a moment.

There’s 3 ways to get what we want in life:

1. Actually, get what we want! (“That was so insightful Adam!”)

2. Or, and this is what most people do, change what they want.

They change what they want because they realize that getting what they want isn’t so easy. They realize it takes a lot of consistency as well as discomfort and sacrifice.

So they rationalize…

“Eh, I don’t care about my body. He/she should love me for who I am!”

“Screw it, I rather enjoy my life now and eat whatever I want than be a miserable fit person!”

“I’ll worry about my health and fitness later. I’m too busy with work!”

“I’ve lost enough weight.”

I can go on and on.

Remember: Obstacles and challenges are those annoying things that appear when we lose sight of our goals.

3. It turns out, the most effective way to get what we want – is to keep having the same goal over and over.

Don’t let your irrational mind try to convince you otherwise.

##

One of the reasons why our clients are so successful is because we’re providing daily support, daily motivation and daily encouragement. Otherwise, it’s just too easy to make excuses and rationalize those excuses. If you’re serious about achieving your fitness goals, you need unwavering support, motivation and accountability. Otherwise, it’s just too easy to keep starting…and stopping.

Consider joining MBT – the proven program that has helped 100’s and 100’s of people of all ages, sizes and shapes get the body they want!
