When it feels like it's going to take forever to reach your goal(s)

There will always be a reason to delay action when it comes to our health and fitness…

Do you know one of the many reasons why some people don’t start the journey of getting healthier and more fit?

I’m not going to give you the answer right away. That wouldn’t be fun! 🙂

First, I’m going to ask you some questions:

1) How long did it take you to graduate high school?

2) How about college?

3) This one is for the moms out there —–> Once you were pregnant, how long did it take you to have a child? (No matter how many women we put together, it’s still going to take 9 or so months, yes?)

Getting healthy and fit and creating positive habits isn’t an overnight process. Nor is it a week-long process.

Yet, how come for so many other things in our lives we don’t question how long it’s going to take?

After all, this is YOU we’re talking about here.

Here’s another question: How long did it take us to get out of shape? I know we can all agree it was longer than 4 days.

I GET IT…

We all want instant gratification.

Hmm…but what does gratification even mean in this case?

I think what we’re after is results aka weight loss…

However, if we only live and die by the scale, we’re completely forgetting about how we feel, how our clothes look, our increased ability to move around and on and on and on and on.

Instead, if we focus….OBSESS! (the way we do with the number on the scale) on how much better it feels to eat right and exercise  — and we know that 9 times out of 10 it really does feel better  — the gratification becomes feeling awesome!

And then…

Weight loss becomes a wonderful side effect.

If we focus on the day to day wins, it becomes a lot easier to string together a long line of wins which, of course = consistency. And consistency (so long as we’re doing the right things, and we sure are) always leads to results.

Every small win adds up.

Besides, we’re not really after weight loss. We’re after fat loss.

Back to my original question: Do you know one of the many reasons why some people don’t start the journey of getting healthier and more fit?

Because it will take too long to lose all of the weight.

Let’s never give up on a worthwhile pursuit because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway. We might as well put it to good use.
