How to think about food differently
Want to think about food differently? Read this post.
Here’s the challenge with food:
Broccoli is food. Cookies are food.
One is good for us. The other is not. (Yes, even if it’s artisanal, organic, vegan, gluten-free, fresh, all-natural, soy-free, homemade, whole grain, or grandma’s recipe!:)
Here’s an interesting challenge. What if we labeled anything edible into two categories:
2) Entertainment — Cookies, chips, candy, cake, etc.
The key thing to remember: The words we use with others and ourselves make a big difference.
Words rewire our brains.
Using the words “I choose to” or “I want to” or “I don’t” VS “I can’t” or “I have to” or “I should” creates an entirely different reaction and feeling within ourselves.
Here’s the exercise: Next time we eat junk food (that isn’t worthwhile / memorable) or are tempted to eat it, label it as ‘entertainment’.
Now, if we keep labeling junk food as entertainment (even just to ourselves) eventually the idea of turning to ‘entertainment’ because we are emotionally hungry will feel silly.
It’ll be a lot easier to realize what we’re doing and catch ourselves.
“I’m eating entertainment!?”
We eat food and do fun things to entertain ourselves.
I hope you have an entertaining week! 🙂
P.S. Like this post? You’ll love our program. This is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to overcoming emotional eating, and what you’ll learn with MBT.
P.P.S Are you an emotional eater? Here’s 10 signs you’re emotionally eating. (Hint: If you eat food for entertainment, you are.)
The #1 reason why people regain weight is because they go on what I call a ‘food diet’. They go from one food diet to the next. Meaning the only thing they change is the food they’re eating. If the only thing you’re changing is the food you’re eating, you’re not going to change for the long term.
Why? You’re relying on willpower. We all know willpower doesn’t last. This is why most diets get harder and harder with time until we just can’t take it anymore.
A big part of what we do at MBT is teach you the right psychology and mindset around food so you no longer need willpower. This is why our clients find that it gets easier and easier with time. This is why they’re able to keep the weight off.
There’s a reason we have countless before/after pictures. MBT works. Check out the amazing before / after stories (along with pictures) here.
