1. How did you find out about us?
I found out through googling fitness/nutrition coaches. I was trying to find a resource to help lock in healthy and consistent habits during quarantine.
2. What have you tried in the past?
I’ve always been into working out and trying to be healthy, but a busy lifestyle throughout work and the weekends constantly got the best of me. Most of my fitness and nutrition efforts previously revolved counting calories. I would have very busy times where I felt out of control with my eating, so I would counteract those with trying to be ridiculously strict afterward. It was not serving me well mentally or physically.
3. There was a moment just before you signed up to work with us. What was the main reason, doubt or insecurity that was holding you back from signing up?
Lol, to be honest it was definitely the cost. Do you know how much Lulu I could have bought?!?! But the sacrifice was well worth it! 🙂
4. What was life like before you started working with MBT?
My eating habits were a roller coaster. In one of my first meetings with my coach he was like “describe your average day of eating” and I was like hahaha, there is no such thing!!! Some days I rocked it and some days I’d overeat something I didn’t even enjoy for no discoverable reason. I definitely struggled with social situations!! When surrounded by a plethora of unhealthy options, I’d start to feel overwhelmed, graze for comfort, and end up stuffed. I had been in the same place for a while and thought that with my inconsistent habits, this was as healthy as I could be! When I look back that’s kind of depressing because I almost gave up on myself and settled for my constant yo-yoing.
5. What were your hopes before joining?
I wanted to lose 15 pounds but the thing I desired more than anything was the ability to be consistent, ditch my all or nothing mentality, and handle work and social situations without having regrets. I began to realize that I had no issue asking for help in other areas of my life..ie there’s so much I would rely on a professional service and advice for. Why wouldn’t my own fitness/health be a worthy cause to do the same??
6. How is MBT different from the billion other companies out there?
I can’t think of any ways MBT is the same as any company out there! The whole approach is so unique! What sticks out to me most though is how the people that work there are quite possibly more passionate about you reaching your goal than you are. Therefore, failing isn’t an option!! Plus, they call you out on all the possible excuses you will give for quitting before you even start. In the end, their commitment to being available makes your health and fitness goal possible.
7. Where are you now?
I lost 15 pounds. I feel so much better!! I truly think this is just the beginning. I definitely view my workouts differently. They are a piece of my morning routine that I truly enjoy and feel blessed to get to accomplish!! The days when I don’t get my workout in just feel less “me”. I feel a lot stronger and have more energy. My eating has a lot more structure and a lot less grazing. I loved breaking my ties with counting calories. I can truly say I don’t think I’ve tallied up my daily calories more than a couple times in the last few months. It is so freeing and so much more intuitive to listen to my body instead of a calculator. I don’t feel anxious and overwhelmed in social situations because I know that while technically nothing is off limits, certain choices are going to make me proud and happy, and certain choices won’t serve me well in the long run. I’m so excited to keep the momentum going.

What did you say to yourself as you were reading Catherine’s story?
It’s fascinating when we start to notice our own behavior. Typically, we distance ourselves from that person. We find something they have that we don’t. We make them into something other than an ordinary, regular person. Then, we create an excuse for why we can’t achieve the same level of success.
The most important thing to realize: Whatever anyone else has done or become, you can do or become as well, with the right support, guidance and accountability.
