My husband actually heard about MBT on a podcast (Bigger Pockets) and pushed me to look further into this program. To be honest, I was pretty skeptical and mostly apathetic about my weight. I just didn’t really care anymore and had convinced myself that I was not a person who could actually lose weight.
He went ahead and signed me up, knowing that what he had heard about this was different, and even helped fill out a good bit of the questionnaire on my behalf. I decided to give it a shot, really believing in my mind that it would end the same way as all the others in the past. I would maybe lose 10 lbs, but I’d gain it all back the moment I became lazy or frustrated with the process.
I had tried counting calories, macros, “points”– all the big well known diets that all depended on counting and perfection. I had some success on the keto diet but the minute I had a “cheat” day, I never went back and subsequently gained ALL and MORE of the weight within a very short amount of time because I had failed perfection and there was no point beyond perfection on that diet. It was too hard to regain momentum after that setback.
I knew that my biggest problem was that I was lazy, a liar and a cheat on those programs because I often wouldn’t “count” the things I ate because there was no one to be accountable to, other than myself, and again I just didn’t care.
During the phone consult with my tutor, I had expectations of being told what I could and could not eat; that I had to count calories and scan barcodes, or that I had to limit myself to a certain number of things.
I was surprised when she focused so much on the “Fullness Scale” and never told me what foods were “Good” or “Bad” — I even emailed her several times over the first few weeks because I was SURE she had forgotten to tell me something!
The thing that helped me the most with My Body Tutor is the personal accountability to my coach. I have never skipped a day of logging, and I have never lied to her. I could lie to myself all day long, but having someone to talk through the reasoning of my eating habits REALLY helped to shift my mindset and I started seeing results right away.
I was excited to get her feedback, EVEN when I had indulged!! In the beginning, I didn’t understand the difference between “Cheat Meals” and “Indulgences” (In fact, I even told myself that it was the same thing, just a fancy fad word) but over time, I began to see the differences in my emotional view on food, as well as my physical view of food. There wasn’t a reason to be frustrated, because “perfection” isn’t required for success. In fact, there have only been a handful of weeks that I didn’t lose any weight…a HANDFUL in all of this time is mind blowing!
I’ve now lost 30 lbs, gone down FOUR pant sizes and THREE shirt sizes, and I can’t believe my own before and after photos. I could not be a bigger believer in the process…It truly changed my life and has given me the ability to understand my own body and mind beyond what I ever thought was possible.
Not only that, but it has changed my family’s lives as well. My children no longer have a mom who is too tired to do things with them, and they also are understanding how food fuels their bodies as well. I actually believe my husband when he tells me I am beautiful, and I don’t cringe when a camera is pointed in my direction. I used to hide behind someone in every picture.

It’s fascinating when we start to notice our own behavior. Typically, we distance ourselves from that person. We find something they have that we don’t. We make them into something other than an ordinary, regular person. Then, we create an excuse for why we can’t achieve the same level of success.
