1) How did you find out about us?
I started searching for accountability coaches on the internet because I knew I wasn’t going to be able to do this alone. And I’m far too comfortable with my physical therapist husband – it’s so easy to tell those close to you no! Lol
2) What have you tried in the past?
In the past I’ve done some Beachbody diets, namely the 21 day fix, but I found it so restricting that it had the opposite effect on me – I didn’t eat less, I ate more because I was feeling so deprived and hungry all the time. I also tried personal training sessions with a trainer. Those were a great workout but didn’t address my poor diet choices.
I knew I didn’t want to do the keto diet or another like it, that I wanted to just find a way to eat all the foods I enjoy without feeling guilty and without taking supplements. I wanted it to be sustainable, and with MBT I found just that! I found ways to tweak recipes for my favorite foods so that I could enjoy them without feeling guilty.
3) There was a moment just before you signed up to work with us. What was the main reason, doubt or insecurity that was holding you back from signing up?
I’m a stay at home mom of a toddler and the reason why I didn’t sign up instantly when I found MBT online was finances. I thought that it wasn’t worth it for me to be spending money my family could be using because I couldn’t get my weight under control myself! But I took the plunge and signed up a few weeks after, and I’m here to tell you – it’s so worth it, worth every penny! I got my life back and I feel like myself again!
4) What was life like before you started working with MBT?
Before MBT I had barely any pictures with my daughter. I hated the way I looked and was just embarrassed. So I didn’t make it into many pictures. One day she was laughing sooo cute as we were playing and I decided to video it. And watching that video I cried to see the state my body was in. That video gave me an extra nudge to find help.
Before MBT, I was emotionally eating and avoiding feelings. Feelings of being a bad mom or a bad wife, I had lost myself in motherhood a bit. I thought that if I was taking time for myself, I was taking time away from my daughter. I had gained so much weight that I felt embarrassed to be with my husband. MBT gave me the tools to realize what I was doing and to mitigate it. (I say mitigate because will those thoughts of “am I doing this right” while parenting ever really go away?) You can’t give from an empty cup. And I found I was able to give my daughter and husband so much more once I started focusing on myself as well.
5) What were your hopes before joining?
Before joining, my only goal was to just get my body back. But I got so much more than that!
6) How is MBT different from the billion other companies out there?
MBT is not some fad diet or another diet plan at all. It teaches you to separate food from your emotions. It forces you to look at your eating habits and face some of the things you’ve been avoiding.
There’s no measuring your portions in cups and it goes completely at your own pace.
MBT focuses on and emphasizes that they want this to be a long term weight loss throughout the entire program. They focus on teaching you the tools to make actual lifestyle changes so that your success will remain even after you’re done with the program.
7) Where are you now?
I am down 25 pounds and have my body back, but more importantly I feel good about myself! MBT has changed my life! I don’t use food as a comfort tool or as an avoidance to get out of dealing with my stresses anymore. And my mindless snacking is a thing of the past! The tools in this program actually work and can be used long term! Everything feels like second nature!
I have more energy and feel more involved in my daughter and husband’s lives. I feel like a better role model for my daughter, and I just have a sense of pride and confidence that I hope she sees!

What did you say to yourself as you were reading Rebecca’s story?
It’s fascinating when we start to notice our own behavior. Typically, we distance ourselves from that person. We find something they have that we don’t. We make them into something other than an ordinary, regular person. Then, we create an excuse for why we can’t achieve the same level of success.
The most important thing to realize: Whatever anyone else has done or become, you can do or become as well, with the right support, guidance and accountability.
