Living with type 1 diabetes since a young age is what motivated my interest in living a healthy lifestyle. I have learned that food and exercise is the best medicine! I obviously could not survive without my daily insulin injections, but by fueling my body with the right food and exercise, I have achieved control over my blood sugar.
This did not happen overnight.
My relationship with food has been a struggle. There was a point where I thought depriving myself of specific foods and excess exercise would be the answer to achieve a certain weight. This was not attainable or sustainable and I finally found my balance.
I could feel such a difference in how my body felt and I did not want to live any other way. This along with my love of food is what has guided my path to go to school for nutrition.
I gained a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Wellness, with a minor in psychology, from Framingham State University. Besides my passion for nutrition, I enjoy being outside, hiking, and traveling.
I know how complicated and difficult the journey can be, and I’m here to support, guide and encourage you every step of the way. The end result is so worth it!
If there is one thing I have realized along my own fitness and nutrition journey, it is to enjoy everything in moderation. As Adam says: The goal is to be fit and happy, not fit and miserable. Balance is key! There’s no joy in depriving yourself and deprivation isn’t sustainable.
