I’m Lauren and I’m from Georgia—a small suburb just Northwest of Atlanta. I am a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant and have been in healthcare for over 7 and a half years and I am so excited to work with you!
A little background about me: 15 years ago, I graduated high school and was entering into my college years… Yes, I had gained the “Freshman 15” (and then some). I was having a hard time figuring out what I wanted to do with my life. I knew I wanted to make an impact in people’s lives but couldn’t figure out exactly what I wanted to do. I realized I need to take care of myself before I can help others do the same. So after trying a million different things and making all the mistakes one can possibly make, I lost the weight, and I developed a love for health and fitness.
After my own transformation, I decided I wanted to help others do the same, so I decided to major in Exercise and Health Science. Shortly after I graduated, I went on to pursue another degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant. I’ve worked in a hospital setting for most of my time as a PTA and over the last few years, I’ve noticed some things about my patients that have really started to concern me: Patients are getting more obese, sicker and developing more comorbidities, taking 10+ pills per day due to chronic illnesses, 80% of my patients are Diabetic (Type 2 due to lifestyle factors) and 80% have back and joint pain from carrying too much extra weight being placed on their joints. I see the cycle of them going in and out of the hospital and their decline in quality of life. And once they reach me, it seems that no one cares what I can do for them or what I have to say because they feel it’s too late, or they are scared or angry about their current situation and diagnosis, or they feel forced into doing therapy because the doctor said so, not because it is their choice, or they want another “pill” or “quick fix” that I just cannot give them… Now most of these thoughts are simply not true!
I decided I wanted to help people earlier and take more of a preventative approach so they can live a healthier lifestyle and that’s how I found MyBodyTutor. I love focusing on getting (and keeping) people healthy to prevent them from becoming one of my patients in the hospital. I know it is not always easy because life constantly throws us challenges, but I’ll be with you every step of the way to help you navigate these challenges. I am so proud to be a part of this team to help others meet their goals and get their lives back!
I chose to be a part of this team because it is so unique. I love the fact that the plans are so individualized to each and every person. Your tutor becomes like family and you will speak with them and get personalized feedback on a daily basis, which is something I have not seen any other programs provide. At MBT, our tutors truly care about you and want the best for you and we are here to keep you accountable every single day. The practices MBT teaches are things I now live by as well and I can say it has truly changed my own life and I can’t wait to help you change yours!
