Susan Welcome! I’m Susan Mitchell and I feel blessed to share my health and healing journey with you and hope you will see some of yourself in my story. I look forward to working with you on achieving your health, nutrition, and body goals. I am dedicated to facilitating your discovery and shift to a new paradigm that frees you from feeling stuck and frustrated with your weight. Together we will uncover the mindset and habits that brought you to this point and have you searching for a path to better health. It’s time to encourage and nurture the ideal you so you can blossom! Imagine the joy of feeling a renewed, or altogether new, gratitude for the way you look and feel. If you can imagine this gratitude you have come to the right place to begin your beautiful journey.

My first job was at Baskin Robbins scooping ice cream, making ice cream cakes, sampling ice cream, sampling FREE ice cream… Sampling the new flavors every month was a good way to ward off boring slow times. What 14-year-old wouldn’t want this dream job complete with the perks of a bursting social hub? My career continued in the food arena, in various capacities for 30+ years and my weight yo-yo’d along with my career advances.

Much of my career was in catering events and venues, so when most folks were gaining weight over the holidays I lost weight due to long hours and physical exertion, despite sampling the goods. In slower summer months, I gained weight as my friends were trimming down for bikini weather. It was a vicious cycle for me that carried on and on, year after year.

I tried a variety of weight loss programs over the years some two and three times – what I like to call “The treadmill diet…” one diet rotating after another. Then entered 2015 when I began experiencing serious digestive issues accompanied by fatigue. My thyroid medicine had worked up to this point, but it didn’t anymore! I was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease Hashimoto. I decided I must take control of my health if I was to have a full life. I began learning everything I could about my new diagnosis, including what I could, and could not eat.

I am grateful for the silver lining of Hashimoto because I discovered a lot about myself: how to care and nurture myself and my body, and in the process, I gained self-esteem. I was inspired to learn how to help others get a grip on their health, and I am now a Certified Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I’ve run a 15K and half marathon, and learned I truly like exercise because of the benefits. I lost 25 pounds three years ago and have kept it off.

Why I chose MyBodyTutor:

MyBodyTutor focuses on shifting the mindset, psychology, and habits of the individual in order to impact the outcomes of their health. This approach leads to permanent and sustainable change! So many programs out there just want to tell you what to eat and when to eat it, and that is not what I want to be a part of. I want to coach you with a company that has integrity and stands behind changing the whole person, not just telling you what to do. For that reason, I joined the MyBodyTutor coaching team so I could help folks learn to ditch the diet. I don’t know of any programs out there that want you to think about what you are grateful for each day or that consider other aspirations you may have aside from health and fitness. To me, that is pretty cool and why I love working with MyBodyTutor – we are the whole package!

I look forward to the opportunity to know you and nudge you successfully, but always progressively towards your dreams. They are real and achievable.
