Hello there! I grew up as an obese kid, struggling with my weight and relationship with food for as long as I can remember. Food was my refuge and my comfort, but overeating also came with great guilt and regret. My weight would fluctuate as I tried different diets and exercise programs throughout high school and college. This continued into my 20s and early 30s, and I started to believe that sustaining a healthy weight just wasn’t possible for me. Maybe it’s just genetic? Maybe I should just accept this weight (250 lbs.) as my destiny? Then shortly after the arrival of our second child, I read one of the many books on a paleo/whole food approach and it just immediately clicked. I thought I had cracked the code! Why doesn’t everybody know this!
I started to see immediate results, and the more success I had, the more interested I became in nutritional science. I consumed every nutrition book I could get my hands on, and I learned a very important lesson – there are many ways to eat well and we don’t need to be dogmatic about food. At that point, I had dropped 50 pounds, but my weight loss had plateaued for several years. Even though I was eating “healthy” whole foods, I was still eating too much and using food as comfort. I heard about MBT and a light bulb went off! This is exactly what I need – accountability! I signed up with MBT and it worked exactly as promised. I quickly reached my goal weight, but more importantly, I permanently changed my relationship with food. Thanks to MBT I have all the tools I need to permanently sustain my weight loss which is now nearly 90 pounds!
I am a certified MPH Accountability Coach, classically trained economist, and an armchair nutritional scientist. Having achieved my own health and wellness goals, I joined the MBT team to give something back by helping others achieve their own goals. I can’t wait to join you on your own journey!
