I am about to turn nineteen, and for the first year, I can go to the beach with my friends and celebrate! I've also noticed a difference in the way that I fit in my clothes. I am no longer afraid of my enemies; food and exercise. I've conquered them.
If Caroline can do it with MBT you can too. Yes, YOU! (No, we’re not yelling. We just really believe in what we do.)
Caroline believed food was the enemy. When she first came to me she had a strong love/hate relationship with food. However, food isn’t anything but food! It’s not your best friend, it’s not your worst enemy; it’s only food! Caroline believed that not eating was the key to losing weight. Little did she know her lack of eating was causing her body to store excess weight! It was holding onto everything she ate for dear life. Caroline had deep rooted issues with food.
The Action Plan
From day one we started working on those issues from the inside out. Day by day, meal by meal, Daily Feedback by Daily Feedback and phone call by phone call. I constantly reassured her that the fuel (food) she was putting into her body would help her look and feel the way she wanted.
Many people have issues with food. Most people aren’t willing to do the work to get over them. It requires lots of self-exploration, patience and brutal honesty with one’s self. The reason why MBT is so successful is because we approach weight loss from the inside out. If I can’t help my clients change the way they think and feel about food and exercise, then they’ll revert back to their old behaviors and who wants that? It must be sustainable.
Many people believe that getting in shape will make them happy, and it will! But many also believe that it will solve all of their problems.
Working on ways to make yourself happier and actually trying to solve your problems will make it a lot easier to get in shape! Because you won’t be nearly as inclined to eat emotionally, mindlessly and habitually; a big part of what I help my clients overcome and exactly what I did with Caroline!
Why it worked (in her words)
When I began working with Adam, I was recovering from anorexia/bulimia. I had secretly been in and out of clinics for over a year. Food had a hold on me; it was all I could think about. Getting my next fix of that sugary-goodness, then ignoring my stomach grumbles for days to compensate for my mistake – was my life.
My weight skyrocketed to an alarming level. My energy was nil. The longing for a workout was gone. Finally, one day I tried to fit into a dress that I had bought just a month ago- a size bigger than it needed to be, and I was disgusted when it wouldn’t even zip up.
My cousin had just started working with Adam, and she told me about the program. We decided to try it together. In the beginning it was painful. Confronting my biggest enemies-food and exercise was exhausting. But Adam kept reminding me that it was a process, and a lifestyle change; not an overnight fix.
Through tears on nightly phone calls when things got tough (yes, Adam heard me cry) and sweat after a great workout, I slowly began to see things change. Over time, food became less scary and I started to think of it as “fuel.” Like Adam taught me, “Your body is like a fire, you must keep it burning.” When I started craving my daily workouts is I knew I had hit a milestone. And that was just the beginning.
Now I can look in the mirror and be proud that I got up at 5 A.M. to go for a run or that I was able to increase my endurance by five minutes. I’ve never been more toned. I wake up, and get an itch to put on my sneakers. That, to me, is the best feeling! I have so much more energy and my outlook on life is completely different. It’s so much more positive and bright.

I’m so thankful that a business like My Body Tutor exists. For me it isn’t just a company, or a diet or an ingenious system of accountability. It is an especially talented man named Adam who takes broken eating and exercise habits and not only teaches you how to fix them but guides you back to success. Because he knows positive comes from positive!
