A juicy burger + eating healthfully don't always go hand in hand, but with this recipe, you can have your burger and eat it too!
Servings: 4 | Time: 25 Minutes
Ingredients
Burgers
1 pound lean ground beef (90/10% – lean-to-fat ratio)
1 T steak sauce and/or a combo of mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce – whatever you have on hand to moisten up the mix!)
1 egg white, whipped
¾ tsp salt and ¼ tsp pepper
Butter lettuce
Topping Options
Tomato slices
Red onion slices
Roasted peppers
Pickle slices or relish
Avocado, mashed or sliced (great sub for mayo!)
Optional Fry Sauce
¼ cup Greek yogurt
1 T mustard
1 T ketchup
1 T pickle juice
Directions
1.) Place ground beef in a bowl, add steak sauce (or whatever sauces you are using), egg white and salt and pepper.
2.) Mix with your hands until just combined. Over-mixing will cause the meat to dry out and become tough so don't overdo it!
3.) Form into four ¼ pound patties.
4.) Slightly indent the middle of each patty with your thumb. This will prevent your burgers puffing up.
5.) Pan fry or grill until cooked through. Pile high with toppings and optional fry sauce and then place in your lettuce "bun”.
