What does a typical day of eating look like for you?

When I’m in my flow and not traveling, I basically eat the exact same thing every single day. Breakfast is 6 eggs, cottage cheese, 2 dates, and raw honey. Post-workout I’ll normally have 8-12 ounces of protein (chicken, turkey), veggies, and a carb source (rice, potatoes). For dinner, I have 16 ounces of meat (usually red meat) and veggies. Then before bed I like to have some sort of shake or protein dessert, like cottage cheese with chocolate protein powder and some blueberries. I keep it simple. It works for me!

What do you eat when you’re on the run?

I try to control the controllable when I’m on the run, so that normally means making sure I get in 200+ grams of protein and not worrying too much about the other macros. If I hit my protein goals, I find that I’m satiated and don’t end up cheating in other areas. For me, hitting my protein on the road means big hotel breakfasts with lots of eggs, and big dinners with a steak or other meat source. I also always pack my favorite protein powder to make sure I can hit those numbers.

Let's say you got to choose your last meal on Earth, what would it be?

Steak and eggs.

What is your go-to comfort food?

Honestly, as crazy as it sounds, probably steak and eggs.

How do you recover after indulgent eating?

I don’t beat myself up over indulgence. I just try to get back on track for the next meal. Stressing over these things makes it worse, just go with the flow, give your body what it needs every now and then, and then get back on track.

How do you find time for fitness?

I structure it into my daily life. The things you put on your calendar are the things you do consisnelty, so I make sure to have a block of time daily on my calendar for my physical pursuits. For me, that’s typically in the 9-11am window.

What do you like to do for exercise?

I like to do a combination of running and lifting. I got into running marathons in 2023 and have run two so far (2:57 and 2:53), so balancing that training pursuit with trying to remain strong and aesthetic is a fun challenge.

What are your 3 favorite workout songs?

I like loud alternative rock, basically anything works for me there.

After a challenging day, how do you destress?

Breathing protocols and light journaling. For breath work, I like the 4-7-8 method: 4 second inhale through the nose, 7 second hold, 8 second exhale through the mouth. Relaxes you immediately after a few reps. For journaling, just writing a few things down on a blank sheet of paper really helps me unwind. I normally do what I call my 1-1-1 method: 1 win from the day, 1 point of stress, 1 point of gratitude. Simple, effective.

How do you treat yourself after a long week?

Present family time is my happy place. At the end of a long week, I lean into my time with my son and wife with real gusto.

Do you have a nighttime ritual?

Before I end work for the night, I write down the 3 things I want to accomplish first the next morning. It primes me for a low friction start, and I love it. After dinner and my little guy’s bath time, I try to do some light reading in the sauna every single night. 20 minutes on 210 is my sweet spot. It helps me sleep like a baby.

Is there a motto or saying you say to yourself that helps you?

This year, my phrase is All-In. All In on myself. My personal growth, my development. All In on my real ones. The people who create energy in my life, who lift me up, who encourage me to think bigger. All In on my purpose. Creating positive ripples in the world, engaging with people in real life to spark action. All In on my mental, physical, and spiritual health. Building myself so that I can be a catalyst for others. All In on my energy. Saying yes to the things that light me up, saying no to the things that don’t. All-in.

Is there anything you’re working on changing?

I’m constantly working on being able to separate work and home more effectively. Probably the biggest challenge of doing most of my writing from home is creating that separation.

Why do you think so many people think being fit and successful can't coexist?

Most people allow optimal to get in the way of beneficial. In reality, small things compound. You don’t need to work out for two hours a day or have perfect macro chef prepared meals to make great progress.

What is something you know about health/fitness you wish you knew 10 years ago?

That your daily habits show up on your face after 10 years. I went to my 10-year college reunion and some people looked 50 and others looked 30. It was just their daily habits compounding positively or negatively in their life. Pay attention to your days, as they create your life.
