When I was a child, my grandfather referred to me as fatty. As a grandfather, my grandchild shared that they referred to me as the fat grandpa. Funny thing is that I've always been involved in sports and had a relatively good diet. I just could not figure out a way to establish and maintain a comfortable weight. I really feel like I tried everything—Nutri-System, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Fitness Pal, and numerous other things.
I often had some success, but it was difficult to maintain the improvements. I had little hope of successfully maintaining weight loss and was reluctant to start another diet. I knew I needed reliable advice and accountability, but that had been so difficult to find that I had pretty much given up.
I had decided to be the healthiest fat guy I could be (I had been walking about 7 miles per day since 2013, which initially helped me lose weight but was less effective over time).
Then, my wife, Sandy, found MyBodyTutor and shared it with me. I hoped to establish a healthy weight that I could maintain. My original goal was to lose 25 lbs., which was still a little high, but I thought it was realistic since I'm almost 60 years old. I accomplished that in 3 months and have been on different forms of the maintenance program for the past year. I was able to identify nine principles that work for me, and since going on maintenance, I've lost another 15 lbs.

It's fascinating when we start to notice our own behavior. Typically, we distance ourselves from that person. We find something they have that we don't. We make them into something other than an ordinary, regular person. Then, we create an excuse for why we can't achieve the same level of success.
