Hi. I'm Terri, and I'm so excited to be part of the My Body Tutor team – and, of course, to meet so many people like you! I have been in the same place some of you have been in. I've been a yo-yo dieter for many years. I've tried different approaches to losing weight as well as different diets, but none of those approaches or diets lasted for long. Why? Because every diet I tried left me feeling deprived. I knew something was missing. In fact, it took me YEARS to understand the reasons behind my food choices. There was a lot of stress in my home life, and I was trying to hide those feelings by overeating unhealthy, sugar-laden foods at nighttime. I would get up at 4am every day to teach fitness classes, and that overeating I'd done the night before did not sit well that early! Once I decided I wanted to feel better, I decided to make better, more whole food choices at night. I lightened up the family dinners, and then lightened up my evening snacks -- enjoying fruit and sometimes cottage cheese. This made a huge difference in how I felt the next day. I have also tried to "out-exercise" a bad diet -- trying every trick in the book. Guess what? That approach does not work, either! So, believe me -- I've lived the struggle and know how important it is to change how we respond to food and cravings, understand the emotional reasons why we eat, and incorporate the right amount of exercise and movement.

There is no one specific diet that is "best" for everyone. I believe in bio-individuality, so we have to take the time to determine what types of food each of you likes, as well as what types of foods work best with your lifestyle and your overall health and wellness goals. MBT's approach allows the tutors to work with clients to be mindful around the foods we choose to eat, how to feel satisfied not stuffed, and learn what feeling "satisfied" really feels like.

Even if you've tried other programs in the past, we may have learned WHAT to do, but we can't put it into practice – and develop a lifestyle that is sustainable for each of us – without additional guidance, support and motivation from a coach. We will help you with the HOW, and teach you how to create the habits and mindset necessary to put the WHAT into practice.
