Why it's so hard to turn down junk food

Happy Holidays! :)

Recently, I was shopping and I came across this sign.

"Shopping in NYC is a challenge...You deserve a treat! Grab a .99 cent bag of candy!"

Yes, shopping in NYC is a challenge, but shopping anywhere is a challenge.

It's so easy to rationalize buying this...

"Yea, I work so hard! I take care of everyone else, how about me?! I do deserve this!"

If our only 'treat' is indulgent food, it's going to be very hard to not give in. It's going to be very hard not to indulge.

Key question: How else do you treat yourself?

This is a deceivingly powerful question that taps into the psychology of why we sometimes eat.

P.S. It drives me crazy when people say, "I know exactly how to lose weight!" yet they've been overweight for years.

Knowing what to do, and actually doing it are very, very different. If 'everyone' knows what to do, why are so many people overweight, out of shape, and unhappy with the way they look and feel?

If it's about "just sticking with it" -- don't you think you would have "just" done it already? Easier said than done.
